China has welcomed Afghanistan’s participation in the Belt and Road Project. Along with this, on Thursday, the Foreign Minister of China announced that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor would be extended to Afghanistan. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived in Kabul as a surprise visit on Thursday, said this. During this, Wang Yi spoke to the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaki, about political and economic relations. During this, he talked about the mining sector and the Belt and Road project in Afghanistan. The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan has given this information.
Wang Yi said that China is trying to take the China Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan and promote regional connectivity. During this, China also expressed the hope that no such force will be given place in Afghanistan, which can harm the neighboring country. It is believed that he said this about Uighur separatists. In August last year, Afghanistan was taken over by the Taliban and this was the first time that the leader of a major country had visited Kabul. Especially at a time when Wang Yi has made this visit, when the Taliban has banned girls above 5th grade from going to school.
Know why India is against this project
Before China, only leaders of Islamic countries like Qatar and Pakistan had visited Afghanistan. However, China has not yet given further recognition to the Taliban administration. But the decision to extend the China Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan is important. Let us tell you that India has protested against this project. The reason for this is that a part of it passes through Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India. In such a situation, the expansion of this project is going to increase the concerns of India.
Last year, Pakistan also talked to Taliban
Earlier in September last year, Pakistan also talked to the Afghan government about the expansion of this project. Then Pakistan’s diplomat in Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan said, “Regional connectivity was an important issue in our talks with the Afghan leadership. If the China Pakistan Economic Corridor expands, then connectivity will increase again. Apart from this, it will also be good in terms of infrastructure and energy.
