In this direction, for the first time, the first consignment of fiber and mineral rich dragon fruit grown in farmers’ fields in Gujarat and West Bengal has been sent to London and Bahrain. Dragon fruit is also known as Kamalam in India.
The consignment of the exotic fruit dragon fruit exported to London was received from farmers in the Kutch region and was exported by Apida Packhouse in Bharuch, Gujarat. While the dragon fruit consignments sent to Bahrain were procured from farmers in West Midnapore, West Bengal and exported by enterprises registered with EPIDA in Kolkata. Earlier in June 2021, a consignment of dragon fruit was procured from farmers of Tadasar village in Sangli district of Maharashtra and exported to Dubai by APIDA.
