National Film Award winner Surekha Sikri, who played the role of Dadi Sa in that serial, said goodbye to the world today at the age of 75 due to cardiac arrest. Apart from ‘Balika Vadhu’ she played the role of ‘Dadi’ in the film ‘Badhaai Ho’. There is a wave of mourning in Bollywood and TV world due to the death of Surekha. His manager has confirmed the sad news.
According to Surekha Sikri’s manager, Surekha Sikri breathed her last this morning itself. He first suffered a brain stroke in the year 2018, after which he had a paralysis attack. Although she recovered, but could not do much work. Last year in September 2020, he had a brain stroke for the second time, after which his health had deteriorated. He had also sought financial help for the treatment.
Talking about work, Surekha Sikri has been a part of theatre, TV and many films. She received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995) and Badhaai Ho (2018). At the 66th National Film Awards, actress Surekha Sikri was awarded the Best Supporting Actress Award for her memorable role of Dadi in the film Badhaai Ho. Surekha Sikri had also come to collect this award on a wheelchair.
Along with films, she has worked in TV shows like ‘Balika Vadhu’, ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani’, ‘Saat Phere’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ and ‘CID’.
