You must have heard this many times and must have seen that humans get punished for their crimes, but have you ever heard of any animal getting such punishment. Admittedly this sounds strange but it is completely true. One such case has come to the fore where an animal is also being punished for attacking or killing a person. In fact, section 302 i.e. murder case has been registered in the case of crushing a person on an elephant Mittu. This elephant, who is serving a sentence of murder, has been in fetters for almost one and a half years and now Varanasi Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh has taken the initiative for its release. After the order of the court after the lockdown, he will be sent to Dudhwa National Park located in Lakhimpur Kheri.

According to the report of the magazine, this incident is of October 20, 2020 when Ramlila of Ramnagar was going on. After returning from Ramlila, the elephant Mitthu crushed to death a man enraged by the molesting. Since this incident, a case has been registered against the elephant under 302. Along with the elephant, its owner was also booked under the Wildlife Act at the Baburi police station in Chandauli. In this regard, the Varanasi Police Commissioner contacted his Forest Service colleague Ramesh Pandey, who is the Director of New Delhi Zoo. Ramesh Pandey has spoken to the zoo officials and talked about Mittu’s release.
