Regarding the riots in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana gave details on Monday. He said the people who were present at the back of the procession had a clash with the people standing there and stone pelting started. Asthana said that nine people were injured, including eight police officers. So far 23 people have been arrested in the case. The video footage of social media is being investigated.
Rakesh Asthana rejected the theory that the violence took place after saffron flags were installed at a mosque in the area. “A minor argument (between groups) led to violence in Jahangirpuri. The theory that saffron flags were installed in the mosque is completely baseless,” he said.
