Panicked by the no-confidence motion, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has appealed to the common people to stand with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad on March 27. According to the report published on Thursday by the newspaper Dawn, Imran Khan, while addressing a gathering at Saidu Sharif Maidan, sought support from the people in favor of the government. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Senator Faizal Javed, Communications Minister Murad Syed and all Swat MPs were present in this meeting.
Imran Khan claimed that his efforts in the United Nations led to a resolution to combat Islamophobia, designating March 15 as the International Day Against Islamophobia. Khan took a dig at Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying that Rahman claims himself to be the champion of Islam. In fact, he never had the courage to speak out against Islamophobia. Even the former Prime Ministers of Pakistan did not dare to speak against it. They were slaves of western countries.
Imran Khan accused the opposition of trying to loot the country and dismantle the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), as they were afraid of corruption action against them. They are trying to do unconstitutional acts like horse-trading of public representatives on the basis of money. Prime Minister Khan urged the Election Commission to take action against the alleged horse-trading.
He said that his party not only saved the country from corona virus but also kept the economy alive with good policies and concrete decisions. At a time when many countries were facing inflation, his government had reduced petroleum and diesel prices by Rs 10 and electricity by Rs 5 per unit.
It is noteworthy that the PTI government has announced to organize a ‘huge public meeting’ at D-Chowk on March 27 and it is firm on its decision. A high level committee has been constituted to finalize the arrangements for the public meeting. Voting is proposed on March 27 on the no-confidence motion presented in the Parliament against the Imran Khan government.
