Ashwin took 89 against Australia, 56 against South Africa, 88 against England, 55 against Sri Lanka, 66 against New Zealand, 16 against Bangladesh, 60 against West Indies and five against Afghanistan out of these 435 Test wickets. Huh.
Anil Kumble has taken the most wickets for India in Test cricket and Kapil Dev was at number two. But now Ashwin has become the second bowler to take the most Test wickets from India. Ashwin broke Kapil Dev’s record by taking two wickets in the first innings of the Mohali Test and three in the second innings. Kapil Dev has 434 Test wickets and Ashwin has 435 Test wickets.
Anil Kumble has taken 619 Test wickets for India. Harbhajan Singh is at number four in terms of taking most Test wickets for India. Bhajji has 417 Test wickets in his account. At the same time, Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan are at number five with 311-311 wickets.
Overall, Muttiah Muralitharan holds the world record for taking most wickets in Test cricket. Muralitharan has taken 800 Test wickets, while the late Shane Warne of Australia is second with 708 wickets.
