Rishabh Pant Convinces Rohit Sharma To Take DRS: The last match of the World Test Championship (WTC) two-Test series between India and Sri Lanka (IND vs SL) is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. A total of 16 wickets fell on the first day of this Day Night Test and by the end of the day, Team India tightened its grip on the visiting team. Batting first, India scored 252 runs on the back of Shreyas Iyer’s brilliant 92 runs. At the end of the first day’s play, Sri Lanka could score only 86 runs in their first innings at the loss of 6 wickets. Team India is still leading by 166 runs from Lanka. During the Sri Lankan innings, such an anecdote happened after seeing that everyone is praising the Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. During the match, Pant put pressure on Rohit Sharma for DRS to overturn the umpire’s decision. Pant was confident about the wicket, but the rest of the players were not quite sure about it. In the end, under pressure, Rohit demanded DRS and no one could believe what happened after it.
This anecdote is during the 12th over of the Sri Lankan innings, this over was bowled by Mohammed Shami. The fifth ball of the over hit the pads of Sri Lankan batsman Dhananjay de Silva and all the Indian players appealed for LBW which was denied by the umpire. Actually, the ball hit the upper part of Dhananjay’s pad and this batsman was also slightly in the air at that time due to which it seemed that the ball would miss the wicket.
In such a situation, when Shami and other Indian players were discussing taking DRS from Rohit Sharma, except Rishabh Pant, there was no confidence in any player. But Pant was confirmed that Dhananjay was out and started pressurizing Rohit for DRS. Rohit kept telling Pant that the ball was going from above, but Pant also kept on convincing Rohit that he is out and you take DRS. Coming to the point of this young wicket-keeper, Rohit Sharma took DRS within a few seconds. After this, the third umpire found that the ball was hitting the wicket and asked the umpire standing on the ground to reverse his decision. Everyone including the ICC is praising this master stroke of Rishabh Pant. View tweets-
