Lucknow March 11 (IANS)| A Kendriya Vidyalaya teacher living in Rajmalpur village of Madiyahun in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh has created a robot that is capable of receiving people in 9 Indian and 38 foreign languages. This robot is capable of acting like a human. In the same way, gestures can also behave.
Dinesh’s robot name is ‘Shalu’!
Dinesh Patel, a resident of Jaunpur, is a computer science teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT, Mumbai. He has invented it with the inspiration of Sophia Robot of Hong Kong-based robotics company Hanson Robotics. Patel is very much influenced by the film Robot. That’s why he has taken his step in this direction. Its name is Shalu.
This robot is made from waste material
Dinesh Patel told IANS in a special conversation that, “It has been made from waste material. In which plastic, cardboard, wood and aluminum etc. have been used. It has taken three years to make it. 50 thousand rupees have also been spent. He told that Shalu is just a prototype. Robot Shalu is also known as Roboshalu. It is capable of recognizing faces, remembering a person after meeting, interacting with them, answering educational questions based on general knowledge, mathematics, just like normal people. It is also capable of easily identifying many common objects.
Patel told that it can shake hands, joke, express sorrow, happiness, read daily news, tell food recipes, Q&A and interview like normal humans. A robot can work as a teacher in a school. Can also be used as a receptionist in various offices.
An effort of a completely Indian, self-reliant campaign
He told that this is an effort of self-reliant campaign. It is completely Indian. Able to teach children in a school classroom and answer their questions. As receptionist in office, bank, school, hospital airport, railway station is capable of doing oral as well as email and messaging. As a companion to the elderly at home, it can also prove to be very helpful in operating the electrical appliances of the house as ordered. This Trim Robot is capable of answering any language and question through Artificial Intelligence and Internet. He told that this robot can be made more beautiful through the mask. Right now it has been made using plaster of paris.
This robot of Dinesh Patel has also been appreciated by Professor Supratik Chakraborty of Computer Science and Engineering IIT Mumbai. He wrote in the letter saying, “It is a good step to make this robot. It is made in a lot of resources. This type of robot can be very helpful in the field of education, for increasing the interaction with the students and for entertainment. The Shaloo robot can be an example and a source of inspiration for those young, energetic future scientists.”
