Rohit Sharma created suspense on Jos Buttler’s century
By the end of 16 overs, Butler was batting on 98. After this, left-handed batsman Shimron Hetmyer started batting with such speed that Butler got only two deliveries to play in the next two overs. Butler had to wait a long time to complete his second IPL century. On the first ball of the 19th over, when Butler completed his century by taking a run, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma created suspense by taking a review.
Actually, Jasprit Bumrah’s ball hit the pad after hitting Butler’s bat. The fielders, including the bowler, felt that the ball had hit the first pad, due to which Rohit Sharma took a review. But Butler knew that the ball had hit the bat first, but until Rohit Sharma did not take a review, Butler did not celebrate the century by picking up the bat. Butler did a trick to spoil Mumbai’s review here. Finally the third umpire found that the ball had hit Butler’s bat first and he declared the batsman not out.
Butler became the slowest foreign player in the history of IPL
Jos Buttler completed his second IPL century in 66 balls and with this he has become the slowest foreign batsman to score a century in the history of IPL. Butler has equaled Australian opener David Warner, who also holds the record for scoring a century in 66 balls in the IPL.
Talking about the competition, apart from Butler, Sanju Samson scored 30 and Hetmyer scored 35 runs. At the same time, Bumrah and Mills got 3-3 wickets for Mumbai.
