Congress’s internal strife is increasing ahead of the assembly elections in Telangana. Leaders have moved to Delhi against Congress state chief Revanth Reddy. Many party leaders are questioning Reddy’s way of working and decisions. The special thing is that this controversy has come to the fore at a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party has increased the pace of preparations for the assembly elections to be held in 2023. The special thing is that after the defeat in the assembly elections of five states, the Congress is already facing the displeasure of the leaders. Recently party president Sonia Gandhi held a meeting with some leaders of the G-23 group.
Senior Telangana Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao has sought an appointment with Sonia Gandhi. Media reports quoted sources as saying that they are preparing to hand over a list of controversial decisions taken unilaterally by Reddy, the chief of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. Rao has held meetings with Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhati Vikramark and MLA D Sridhar Babu several times in the recent past.
Calling themselves Congress loyalists, these leaders are criticizing Reddy’s way of working. TPCC working president T Jayaprakash Reddy (Jagga Reddy) and former minister Mari Shashidhar Reddy have also been involved in meetings of dissident leaders.

Jagga Reddy is openly criticizing Revanth Reddy. Recently, the MLA had also announced his resignation from the party, but after the intervention of senior leaders, he withdrew the decision. There are reports that Jagga Reddy is upset that the state Congress chief organized protests in his constituency Sangareddy without consultation.
Here, on Monday Revanth Reddy relieved Jagga of all organizational level responsibilities. The special thing is that a day earlier, Jagga Reddy had challenged Revanth to field any candidate from Sangareddy area and ensure his victory. He had offered to resign and contest the election as an independent candidate.
Why is Revanth Reddy being opposed?
Revanth, who was made TPCC chief in July last year, is facing opposition from some party leaders. Angry leaders believe that Revanth is working alone. Revanth had joined the Congress a few years back by breaking ties with the Telugu Desam Party.
