One billion 300 million tonnes of waste is wasted every year around the world. A large part of this agricultural waste gets destroyed in the field itself. Some waste comes from the mills and some from the kitchen. If we talk about our country, then 350 million tonnes of agricultural waste is generated here annually. which we consider useless. But in reality it is not so.Now even this garbage can make millionaires. Our scientists are developing many such methods and techniques, using which a lot of money can be earned even through waste. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy estimates that this waste excluding green manure can generate 18000 MW of electricity per year.
The share of waste from agriculture and kitchen is very high. According to a report, if we consume potatoes alone, about 12 million tonnes of potatoes are wasted every year around the world. The weight of potatoes destroyed in India is 2 million tonnes. When the Government of India launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014, serious consideration was given to making agricultural waste a success. In particular, the idea came to create these products that could be used for humans, animals or crops.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Delhi played a major role in this. ICAR has started working on such processing technology in collaboration with all the organizations. Who can make money from garbage?Farmers burn or throw away the linseed waste. But ICAR has developed a technology that turns it into paper. Money can be earned by selling this paper. At the same time, money can also be earned from rice and beans. At the same time, the waste after extracting oil from oilseeds is also very useful. Peanuts and soy make up 35 percent of the protein.
Peanut bark is also used as poultry feed. In India, poultry consumes about 2 million tonnes of husk every year. Protein can also be obtained from corn. Along with this, the technique of making axes has also been developed. At the same time, compost is being made from the soil waste from the sugar mill and dumped in the fields. Due to which the fertility of the farm is increasing significantly. Most of the garbage comes out of the kitchen. Due to which the technology of making compost has also evolved. Cotton twigs are now being used to grow mushrooms. Every year 1.3 million tonnes of pineapple waste goes into India. Now it is used as animal feed.
