Rajasthan Police has arrested three persons by confiscating 12 kg of explosive material in Nimbahera town of Chittorgarh district. The police have also detained five other people, of whom two are residents of Madhya Pradesh. The vehicle seized in this case is also of Madhya Pradesh number. According to sources, these terrorists were trying to carry out some major incident in Jaipur.
Additional Director General of Police (ATS&SOG) Ashok Rathod told that the arrested accused have links with the extremist Al Sufa organization of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh. All the accused were produced in the court from where they were remanded in police custody till April 8, he said. He said that the accused are being questioned to know about their target and other people associated with them. He said that the explosive material recovered from the accused has been sent for forensic examination to confirm its type.
All three accused are residents of Ratlam
Chittorgarh Superintendent of Police Preeti Jain said that the three arrested accused are residents of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh and have a criminal record of attempt to murder and assault. He said that the accused revealed during preliminary investigation that they had to deliver the consignment to a place near Jaipur. Let us inform that a suspicious vehicle was stopped during the blockade on Wednesday night in Nimbahera Sadar police station area of Chittorgarh. A total of 12 kilograms of explosives, three operating clocks with battery and three connectors with wire were recovered during the search of the vehicle.
ATS is investigating
Police said in a statement that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act. It added that the matter is being investigated by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). According to the statement, on the basis of preliminary interrogation of the arrested persons, three suspects were taken into custody from Chittorgarh and Tonk districts of Rajasthan. According to the statement, two other people taken into custody are residents of Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh who are being questioned by the ATS there. A total of three persons have been arrested while five others have been taken into custody, according to the statement. The police is working closely with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
