Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, who reached the assembly after winning from Karhal seat, took oath as an MLA on Monday. Akhilesh Yadav, who reached the assembly for the first time as an MLA, said that he has lived in this house before, only the bench has changed. Earlier we were in the ruling party, now we have to remain in the opposition. He also said that he would play the role of a positive opposition.
Akhilesh Yadav, who came out after taking oath in the assembly, told the media personnel, “I have been in the assembly. Only the bench has changed. Earlier I used to sit in the side, now I used to sit in the opposition. ”When the media asked him about the change of role, he said that the opposition will work for the accountability of the government. The role of the opposition will be positive.
Several newly-elected MLAs, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav, on Monday took oath as members of the 18th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav, who was named the Leader of the Opposition after the Leader of the House, took oath as an MLA. Adityanath had recently won the state assembly elections from Gorakhpur Urban seat, while Akhilesh Yadav was elected MLA from Karhal constituency.
When Adityanath came to the House, the members welcomed him with the slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. Before sitting on his seat, Yogi met opposition members including Leader of Opposition Akhilesh Yadav and completed the formalities of greetings. Before this, Akhilesh Yadav came to the house wearing a red cap and was welcomed by the members of the Samajwadi Party and the ruling party.
Yogi took oath after reaching the Speaker’s podium, during which the House resonated with the slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ by the members of the ruling party. After this, when Leader of Opposition Akhilesh Yadav was called for oath, the members of Samajwadi Party raised slogans of ‘Jai Bhim’ and ‘Jai Samajwad’. After getting up from his seat, Yadav reached the Speaker’s podium for the oath after meeting the first row members and Leader of the House Yogi. Akhilesh was followed by senior member Satish Mahana (elected from Kanpur Maharajpur) and then Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak took oath. After Brajesh Pathak, the process of administering oath to the ministers of the government started. Ministers like Surya Pratap Shahi, Baby Rani Maurya etc. took oath.
