Pak vs Aus: The third and final Test between Pakistan and Australia is being played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. On the third day of the match, Pakistan’s team was all out after scoring 268 runs. Abdullah Shafiq and Azhar Ali were the top scorers for the hosts. Shafiq contributed 81 and Azhar contributed 78 runs. With this, Azhar has set a new record for Pakistan in Test cricket. 37-year-old Azhar has become the fifth batsman for Pakistan and the 54th batsman in the world to score 7000 runs in Test cricket.
Azhar now has 7004 runs in 173 innings of 94 Test matches at an average of 43.23. He has been not out 11 times in Test cricket so far. In the long format of cricket, Azhar has a triple century and 19 centuries to his name. Apart from this, he has also scored 35 half-centuries. With this, Azhar has overtaken stalwarts like Salim Malik, Misbah-ul-Haq and Zaheer Abbas. They are now ahead of Mohammad Yusuf (7530), Inzamam-ul-Haq (8829), Javed Miandad (8832) and Younis Khan (10099).
