US President Joe Biden has called for the removal of Russian President Vladimir Putin from power. Without naming Putin, Biden said that this man cannot stay in power. Soon after Biden’s statement, the White House clarified that the US President was not talking about the formation of a new government in Russia.
A White House official said on condition of anonymity that Biden was not talking about Putin in power or changing government in Russia. He said Biden meant that Putin could not be allowed to use power over his neighbors or the region.
Will have to be ready against Russian aggression
Biden used his speech in Poland’s capital, Warsaw, to defend liberal democracy and the NATO military alliance. He also said that Europe should prepare itself for a long struggle against Russian aggression. The White House described Biden’s address as the keynote address. The US President was speaking in front of the Royal Castle, one of Warsaw’s notable landmarks and badly damaged during World War II.
In battle we need to keep a clear eye
President Biden referred to the words of Polish-born Pope John Paul II and warned that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine threatened a “decade-long war”. Biden said that in this fight we need to keep a clear eye. This battle will not be won in days or months. The crowd of about 1,000 people included some Ukrainian refugees who have fled to Poland and elsewhere in the midst of the attack on Ukraine.
