Pakistan played a key role in bringing the Taliban to power in Afghanistan last year. But today the same Taliban has reached the United Nations with its complaint. The Taliban allege that Pakistan’s army carried out airstrikes on April 16 in Khost and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan. The Taliban has gone to the United Nations Security Council on this issue. The formal complaint against Pakistan has been given by Nasir Ahmed Faik, who was part of Ashraf Ghani’s regime. But his complaint has also been supported by Taliban, Haqqani Network and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. The Taliban say that 40 people, including women and children, have been killed in the attack by the Pakistani army.
Apart from this, many houses have also been damaged. The Taliban, the Haqqani Network and the Tehreek-e-Taliban are all affiliated with the Pashtuns and are opposing the fencing on the Durand Line from the Pakistani side. These organizations say that through this Pakistan is working to separate the Pashtuns. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of Pakistan has a large population of Pashtuns. Apart from this, Afghanistan is a Pashtun majority country. In a letter sent to the United Nations Security Council, Afghanistan has written that what Pakistan’s military has done is in violation of the principles of international law, human rights, and the UN Charter. Apart from this, it is also against the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council.
‘Border violation by Pakistan for a decade’
This letter has been written by Afghanistan to the Security Council on 18 April. Afghanistan said in its complaint, ‘The sovereignty of Afghanistan is being violated continuously by the Pakistani forces. Bombing is being done from across the border. Posts are being made inside Afghanistan. This is being done for a decade. Especially worrying is the bombing and firing from across the border, which has also resulted in massive casualties. Due to this there has been massive loss of public and private property, people have had to migrate on a large scale. Such acts are being done continuously and now it should be stopped.
Instruction given to Pak – take care, relations will deteriorate
Not only this, Afghanistan wrote while giving instructions that such incidents would affect the relations between the two countries. Apart from this, the peace system in Afghanistan and surrounding areas will also be weakened due to this. Even before this, Afghanistan had raised the issue against Pakistan in the UN, but then there was no Taliban in power but the US-backed government of Hamid Karzai.
