Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of Punjab on Wednesday. During this, many big names of politics were present, but only the name of Mann’s ex-wife Inderpreet Kaur remained in the discussion. Kaur has played a big role in the political progress of Mann, who entered politics in 2014. However, in the year 2015, Mann distanced himself from his wife and children, describing Punjab as his family.
The thing is from the year 2015. Bhagwant Mann and Inderpreet Kaur, who had the image of a happy couple among the public, had filed for divorce in the SAS Nagar Court. This news shocked many people. In such a situation, Mann claimed that he chose ‘Punjab before family’. Even during that time, the court had given 6 months for its consideration, but Mann had made up his mind.
He had also posted a poem about it – ‘Jo latkeyan si chira to o hal ho gaya, court ch eh verdict kal ho gaya… ek pase si parivar, duje pase si family… main ta yaaran punjab de wal ho gaya’ Gone.’ This means that a long pending issue has been resolved. The court has decided yesterday. I had to choose between one and another family. I decided to learn with Punjab.
When wife became political support
Kaur also supported Mann a lot in his political journey. During the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2014, she campaigned in the villages of Sangrur for the victory of her husband. Since the time of the People’s Party of Punjab, Kaur has participated in many meetings and speeches for Mann. However, after separating from her husband, Kaur settled in America with her children.
Mann had also come under the target of people
In 2015, many considered Mann’s decision to be a political maneuver. However, many people also came out in his support. The AAP leader had also shared a photo of a supporter, which read, “We are thankful to Bhagwant Mann for sacrificing family for us and taking care of our pain before his children.” We also stand with them.
What were the results of Punjab elections
In 117-seat Punjab, AAP won 92 seats. At the same time, Mann, who had contested from Dhuri seat in Sangrur district, also won by about 58 thousand votes. AAP, which stood second in 2017, is ready to form the government in the state this time. Whereas, Congress led by Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu could win only 18 seats.
