India is considered a country of temples. More than one wonderful temple has come in different parts of the country. Each of these temples has a different specialty. One such wonderful temple is the 250-year-old temple of Kartikeya Swami, which came in the religious city of Patan, Gujarat. This temple opens only once in a year, that too on the day of Kartik Purnima. Today, on the day of Kartik Purnima, as soon as this temple opened, the crowd of devotees was in a hurry to come to the temple. 36 pillars have come in this 250 year old temple.
According to mythology, there was a condition between Lord Shiva’s two sons Ganeshji and Lord Kartikeya to circumambulate the earth. Lord Kartikeya set out on his vehicle peacock to circumambulate the earth seven times, but Lord Ganesha showed his cleverness and went around his parents seven times. Everyone was very happy with this cleverness of Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiva was happy and got him married too. However, Lord Kartikeya became very angry with this and cursed that whoever sees his face will become a widow. Due to such a curse, everyone got confused and started understanding Kartikeya.
Due to this, Kartikeya pronounced his decision and said that whoever sees his face on the first full moon day of the year will become fortunate and will get a lot of happiness and prosperity. Since then the temple of Lord Kartikeya opens only once in a year. As soon as the doors of the temple open, a large number of women and devotees come to see them. The first full moon after Diwali is called Kartik Purnima for this reason. On this day itself, the Chhatrapateshwar temple in Patan is opened by the Kartikeya temple and his darshan is started for the devotees. Darshan of Lord Kartikeya has special significance on this day, due to which a large number of people gather. Especially women come in large numbers on this day.
