In the Tarkulwa area of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, before the garland, the groom demanded Rs 50,000 in dowry. When the bride’s side was told to give the money later, quarrels and fights started. Three people from the bride’s side were injured in the fight. The procession returned without marriage.
Vasudev Gupta, a resident of Mahuapatan market of Tarkulwa area, had fixed the marriage of his daughter Shilpi with Murari, the son of Rajdev, resident of Mundera village in the police station area. On Tuesday night, the procession reached the door with pomp. The people of the girl’s side were providing breakfast, water and food to the people of the boy’s side that after the door worship, the bridegroom who reached the stage started asking for 50000 dowry dues.
The people of the girl’s side explained a lot, but the groom was not ready for the garland and, abusing the bride’s side, took out the garland and head cap and threw it away. Which made things worse. Soon after the fight, a fight started on both sides. Due to which there was a stampede in the procession. Anand, Harikesh and Vijay of the girl’s side were injured in the fight. Seeing Vijay’s condition critical, doctors referred him to Gorakhpur Medical College. His condition remains critical. In this regard, SHO TJ Singh said that both the parties have been called to the police station. Legal action will be taken.
