In Mau and Ghazipur of eastern UP, the Bahubali mafia Mukhtar Ansari has once again maintained his rule. Mukhtar’s son Abbas Ansari has won the Mau Sadar seat. Mukhtar Ansari’s nephew Suheb Ansari Mannu has won from Ghazipur’s Mohammadabad seat.
The Mau Sadar seat has been the traditional seat of Mukhtar Ansari. Mukhtar has held this seat for almost three decades. For the first time, distanced himself from electoral politics, he had fielded son Abbas on the ticket of Subhasp. Abbas has got more than one lakh votes. By 30 rounds, Abbas Ansari had got more than 1 lakh 5 thousand votes.
Abbas Ansari was behind in the initial trend but later got ahead. The BJP had fielded Ashok Singh against Abbas. Mukhtar Ansari was accused of killing Ashok Singh’s brother. Ashok Singh’s family alleges that Mukhtar had a hand in the murder of his brother Ajay Prakash Singh ‘Manna’.
Mukhtar Ansari’s nephew Suheb took a decisive lead over BJP candidate Alka Rai. After 23 rounds, Suheb Ansari was leading by 17000 votes. Suheb got 77228 votes and Alka Rai got 60880 votes. Madhvendra Rai of Congress has got 20559 votes here. After this Suheb was declared the winner.
