The defeat of the Samajwadi Party alliance in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections has created a ruckus in the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). After the cancellation of all the party’s state, regional, district and frontal organizations by RLD Chief Jayant Chaudhary, now the party’s state president Masood Ahmed has written a 7-page open letter making many sensational allegations. He has also accused Jayant Chaudhary and Akhilesh Yadav of distributing tickets by taking money and claimed that the ticket for Hapur seat was sold for Rs 8 crore.
In the letter, Masood, accusing him of sidelining Muslims and Dalits, has spoken of the loss due to not taking Chandrashekhar Ravana along, while referring to the defeat of Swami Prasad Maurya and said that it happened because of suddenly sending him there.
Gave tickets for money, letter bombed on Jayant-Akhilesh RLD UP chief’s resignation
There was a rift in the SP-RLD alliance
From what Masood has written in the letter, it is clear that there was a rift between the alliance partners in the middle of the election. Due to getting less seats, Jayant was advised by the party to enter the election alone. Masood wrote, “On January 12, 2022, on your orders, representing the party, I spoke to the chief ministerial candidate Akhilesh ji. In this, Akhilesh ji refused to discuss the seats with all the constituents of the alliance. I informed you about it. Due to this humiliation, I and the top leadership of the party called upon you to go alone in the elections, but left the final decision on you. After several rounds of talks by you assured the party that we have to contest on 36 seats, in which 3 seats in East, 1 seat in Lakhimpur, 1 seat each in Bundelkhand and Prayagraj Mandal will also be there. You also assured that we will fight some seats on each other’s symbol, in which 10 socialist leaders were fought on RLD’s symbol while SP did not fight even a single RLD leader on its symbol.
accused of selling tickets
Masood has written that as soon as the elections started, outsiders were given tickets. People sitting in Delhi office started demanding crores from party candidates. He has said that when Jayant Chaudhary was informed about this, he also told it in the interest of the party. Masood writes, “Gajraj Singh, who came to the party at 2 o’clock in the day, was given ticket from Hapur assembly seat at 4 o’clock the same day, which broke the morale of the party workers. There was anger among the party workers about the sale of tickets for Rs 8 crore in Hapur assembly, which I had informed you.
The message of weakening in front of Akhilesh went to the Jats
Masood has also mentioned the dispute between SP and RLD over Math and Siwalkhas seats. He wrote, “We also fielded a candidate on Math. But Sanjay Lather met you and immediately you withdrew your claim on Math. This sent a message to the Jat brothers that you are weakening in front of Akhilesh and surrendering. The Jat vote was immediately halved when his home seat was sold. I have repeatedly told you that the Jat community is very sensitive and a message is being sent to them that Akhilesh is humiliating Yapko and the party. But the party was sold ahead of fundraising and as a result, more than 2/3 of the Jat votes got angry and went to BJP.
‘Rajbhar’s vulgar language damages, wrong message by insulting Shivpal’
Masood has said in the letter that he had told Jayant Chaudhary and Akhilesh Yadav that Om Prakash Rajbhar’s use of obscene language is causing polarization of the elections. But he took no notice. Referring to Shivpal, he wrote, “Shivpal ji was humiliated wholeheartedly. This sent the message of Akhilesh ji being arrogant, due to which the liberal votes who wanted to change got away from us. . Krishna Patel ji and his party were humiliated openly, as a result of which the Patel vote fell out of the alliance.”
Till when will Muslims vote under compulsion?
The state president of RLD has said in the letter that by humiliating leaders like Imran Masood, you (Akhilesh ji) are tarnishing your image among Muslims. Till when will Muslims and other sections vote us under compulsion. Staying among the people has been the key of Mulayam Singh, only going out during the election time passes the public exasperated.
asked many questions
Why were tickets sold for money? Why were the alliance seats not announced in time? Why were tickets also distributed at the last minute? Why were RLD, Apna Dal, Azad Samaj Party and Mahan Dal humiliated? Why did you both keep silence on Muslim and Dalit issues? Why were tickets distributed arbitrarily by both of you? 10 socialist leaders contested the elections on the RLD symbol, but not a single RLD leader was fielded on the socialist symbol, though it was announced by you on TV channels. You yourself had announced that we will contest 403 seats, but RLD neither contested outside the West nor your picture or party flag was visible in the East. The party was humiliated by the SP and what happened in Varanasi was also condemnable. Why so? Masood has asked Akhilesh and Jayant to answer these 7 questions by March 21. He has said in the letter that if these questions are not answered, then it should be considered as his resignation from the primary membership.
