The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun was temporarily uneasy in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday when she accidentally asked the wrong question. When he realized his mistake on the speaker’s interruption, Sanghamitra Maurya changed his question. Sanghamitra Maurya is the daughter of Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya.
During Zero Hour in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Rajendra Agrawal, sitting in the place of Chairman, asked Sanghamitra Maurya to ask his question. Sanghamitra stood with a paper and started reading it. She said, “I want to know that what was the participation of backward castes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes in the purpose of youth programs so far, especially in Uttar Pradesh. What was the number of women and what has happened to the people at the lower level by organizing these programs?
Meanwhile, Aggarwal interrupted Sanghamitra after seeing the question on the table and said, “Sanghmitra ji has changed the subject, you have written something about Emperor Ashoka.” On hearing this, Sanghamitra Maurya realized his mistake. She immediately placed the leaflet in her hand on the bench from which she was asking the question. Sanghamitra Maurya did not have the question in writing. She was uneasy for a moment, but remembered her question and asked.
Sanghamitra said, “Sir, through you, I had also demanded in the last session that a holiday should be declared on the birth anniversary of Emperor Ashoka, but I was informed through a letter that only a limited number of national holidays should be declared. If possible, I demand from the government that on the Ashtami of Chaitra month, the day Emperor Ashoka was born, that day should be declared as Emperor Ashoka Jayanti so that those who want to organize the birth anniversary of Emperor Ashoka, do so. May it be ensured one day, the way it has happened in Bihar, it can be done in the whole country.
