Entertainment News Desk – Actress Vamika Gabbi, who mainly works in Hindi and Punjabi film industry, turned 30 on Friday (September 29). After appearing in a small role as Geet aka Kareena Kapoor Khan’s cousin in Jab We Met, Gabby went on to appear in several films. But it was the OTT space that brought him popularity. The Mystery of Solang Valley- ‘Charlie Chopra’
Gabbi’s recent release was Charlie Chopra and the Mystery of Solang Valley in which she played the lead role. She plays a detective who is on a mission to prove the innocence of her fiancé Jimmy Nautiyal (Vivaan Shah), who is accused of murdering his uncle Brigadier Rawat (Gulshan Grover). Gabby received praise for her acting in the series.
Jubilee – ‘Nilofar Qureshi’
Jubilee, produced and directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, which released on Amazon Prime Video in April this year, had Gabby playing the role of Nilofar Qureshi, a prostitute who wants to become an actor. His performance as an aspiring actor was appreciated by many. The series also starred Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Siddhant Gupta and Ram Kapoor in lead roles.
Mumbai Dragon- ‘Megha’
Before Charlie Chopra and The Mystery of Solang Valley, Gabbi had worked with Vishal Bhardwaj in three other films – Khuffiya (an upcoming film starring Tabu), Fursaat and Modern Love: Mumbai. Although she was first cast for Khufiya, Modern Love: Mumbai released first. The anthology series featured her as Megha in Bhardwaj’s Mumbai Dragon, the third story in the series.
Eclipse – ‘Manu’
The turning point in Gabbi’s career came when she was cast to play the character of Manu in Grahan. This series is based on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Directed by Ranjan Chandel, the series premiered on Disney+ Hotstar in June 2021. The young actress’ performance caught the attention of both audiences and critics and was considered one of her best performances to date.
