Severe heat wave conditions continue to prevail over large parts of India. After the hottest March in 122 years, temperatures are rising even higher in April and no one knows what will happen in May. The maximum temperature in many parts of the country has crossed 40 degree Celsius in April. Meanwhile, Odisha has also witnessed heat wave from last one week. The Special Relief Commissioner has issued a heatwave alert across the state, especially for nine districts, till April 30. In such a situation, a video showing Odisha’s heat has gone viral on social media in which a woman can be seen making roti on the bonnet of a car in Odisha’s Sonpur district. At that time the temperature was being reported as 40 degree Celsius.
An Indian filmmaker and director Neela Madhab Panda, a native of Sonepur, Odisha, took to her Twitter account to share a video of a woman making bread on the bonnet of a car. He captioned the video, Scene from my city Sonpur. It is so hot that anyone can make bread on the bonnet of a car. As per IMD forecast, the heatwave will affect Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonpur, Angul, Deogarh, Balangir and Boudh on April 28 and 29. However, the situation is expected to improve in Angul, Boudh and Jharsuguda on April 30.

However, this viral video has created a fear of global warming. The recently released report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has warned that South Asian countries, including India, could face several climate change-induced disasters in the next two decades. The report said that unless greenhouse gas emissions are drastically reduced by 2030, it will be impossible for Indian officials to reverse a climate disaster.
