An elephant gave birth to twins in Karnataka. This sight was seen in Bandipur Tiger Reserve on 18 April. Elephants usually give birth to one baby at a time. However, elephants have twins in about one in a hundred cases. A heartwarming video of one such incident has gone viral on social media. According to reports, only four incidents of twin births have been recorded since 1926. In the footage, the elephant mother is seen in the park with her two newborn children. In addition, newborn elephant twins seem to have difficulty standing. Perhaps his mother was teaching him to walk at the same time.
As per reports, the tourists and staff members spotted the elephant in the middle of the herd while giving birth to the babies. The pregnant elephant tried to give birth near the old ticket counter. She went to a pond to relieve her restlessness and gave birth to children. When the tourists came to know that the elephant was giving birth to babies, they gathered near the pond. The next few days are necessary for the survival of the twins. Because it has been found that the elephant mother will not give enough milk to feed two babies. Also, elephant cubs are dependent on their mother for four to six years.
