Azaan over loudspeakers is being opposed in the country for the last few days. Although, this protest has been going on continuously for many years, but now it has come into the discussion all of a sudden. Hindu organizations have started reciting Hanuman Chalisa in a loud voice in protest against it in many cities. Regarding this controversy, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has also given instructions that if loudspeakers are used in religious places, then their voice should be limited to the premises. In such a situation, the question is going on in the minds of people that why loudspeaker is necessary for azaan in mosque and it has any connection with Islam?
If we talk about loudspeakers in Islam, then there were no loudspeakers when religions were formed. It is clear from the history that earlier the Imam used to read the Azaan with his loud voice, so that the people living in the nearby houses would get an idea of the time of Namaz and they used to come to the mosque. Even today, the same thing happens in mosques which do not have loudspeakers. There are also many countries where mosques do not have loudspeakers, although azaan is definitely given in loud voice.
However, in India this fight is now increasing. The Supreme Court has also intervened in this matter, despite that the dispute continues. According to Islam, loudspeakers are not needed in mosques to give azaan. Azaan is a way of inviting people to pray in which the words of Allah are spoken. In such a situation, whether Ajan is in the loudspeaker or without it, the matter is the same, that is, it has nothing to do with religion.
Now the question comes that if it has nothing to do with religion then why is azaan given in mosques over loudspeakers. People can have different opinions on the answer to this question. But talking in a general way, earlier in mosques, the Imam had to work hard to perform Azaan. For this he had to give azaan in a loud voice. Gradually the trend of loudspeakers came and it was used in every mosque. With this, Imam Sahib gives azaan comfortably and the voice reaches more people.
So is loudspeaker necessary?
No, since the history of Islam, it has not been written anywhere, nor has it been told that it is necessary to have a loudspeaker to read the azaan. When technology was updated, loudspeakers were installed in mosques. There was no reason behind it or it was not necessary.
