Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) said on Friday that it has no objection to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party (Awami League) return to politics, provided the party entered politics under clean leadership. This statement came at a time when the interim government of Bangladesh made it clear that there is no plan to ban the Awami League.

BNP cleaned the stance

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) spokesperson and senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said at a party program in the capital Dhaka, “If the person who will lead the Awami League, is not guilty of any crime, not murdered students, or has not been misappropriated or funded abroad, then why can’t the party do politics?”

What did the National Citizen Party say?

Let me tell you that recently, the National Citizen Party (NCP), a student -led National Citizen in Bangladesh, said that it does not want the defeated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party to participate in the Bangladesh Awami League election. NCP convenor Nahid Islam said in an interview published in the US international contemporary affairs magazine ‘The Diplomat’ for the Asia-Pacific region, “No, we don’t want Awami to participate in the League elections.”

When asked about the NCP’s plan, Islam said, “Our goal is to establish a second republic through a Constituent Assembly, through which we want to implement a new constitution and change the country’s power mobility structure.” He said that those of Awami League are responsible for the wrongdoings, they should be prosecuted first. ” (Language)
