Dhaka: The interim government of Bangladesh is seen in confusion about its relations with India. Now the advisor for Home Affairs, Lt. General (retired) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chaudhary has said a lot. On Wednesday, Chaudhary said that all the ‘uneven treaties’ with India will be discussed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League government.

‘Citizens of India smuggle’

While addressing a press conference on the upcoming Indo-Bangladesh Border Security Conference, Chaudhary accused the citizens of India of making drugs and smuggling them in Bangladesh while addressing a press conference on the upcoming Indo-Bangladesh Border Security Conference, according to a report by the Dhaka Tribune newspaper. He said, “They make fennidils and smuggle it in Bangladesh. Although they call it a medicine, it is actually a drug.”

‘Not scope for unilateral action’

Chaudhary said that mutual acceptance between the two countries is necessary for any activity within 150 yards from the border and there is no scope for unilateral action for any side. He said that if a mosque or temple is to be constructed under a development project, then the consent of both countries will be mandatory. Special emphasis will be laid on ensuring this consent in future.

The Bangladeshi advisor also said that the alleged firing on unarmed Bangladeshi citizens along the border will also be discussed at the conference.

Bangladesh will discuss many issues

Jahangir Alam Chaudhary said, “Cases of Border Security Force (BSF) or Indian citizens allegedly abducted or detained Bangladeshi citizens will be discussed in a meeting.” He said, “Special attention will be paid to measures to prevent border violations, illegal entry and infiltration. Also, priority will be given to prevent smuggling of illegal drugs such as fencidils, weapons, ammunition and explosives from India to Bangladesh. ” Chaudhary said that issues such as equitable partition of rivers, implementation of water agreements and reopening of Rahimpur canal will also be discussed.
