Late on Sunday night, there was a 6.0 -magnitude earthquake in East Afghanistan near the Pakistan border, killing at least 20 people and fearing that hundreds of people are being killed.
The epicenter of the earthquake was near Jalalabad in Nangarhar province and its depth was stated to be 8 kilometers. The shock was felt at 11:47 pm local time. Nangarhar’s Public Health Department spokesperson Naqibullah Rahimi said that 15 people were injured and have been admitted to the hospital. About 20 minutes later, another shock of 4.5 magnitude was felt in the same province.

Earlier on 7 October 2023, there was a 6.3 magnitude earthquake in western Afghanistan, in which about 4,000 people died according to the Taliban government, while the United Nations had stated the number about 1,500. It has been considered the most frightening natural disaster in Afghanistan in recent years.
