US President Donald Trump said that he expects to completely eliminate Iran’s nuclear program and wants Iran’s “complete dedication” for this. He clarified that he did not make any contact for peace talks with Iran. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “I did not contact Iran in any way for peace talks. This is completely fake news! If they want to talk, they know how to reach me.”
The air strikes between Israel and Iran on Friday, June 13 have increased tension in the Middle East. Israel attacked Iran’s military and nuclear bases under ‘Operation Rising Lion’, killing 224 people, mostly citizens. In response, Iran fired missiles at Tel Aviv, killing 24 people. Israel claims that it has captured Iran’s air security and will increase the attack to prevent nuclear weapons.
Trump dismissed French President Emmanuel Macron’s claim that he was working for a ceasefire in the Israeli-Iran war. Trump said, “Macron does not know the reason for my return to Washington. It is much larger than the ceasefire.” Trump also said that he hopes that Iran’s nuclear program ends without American intervention.
Iran has denied making nuclear weapons and claimed that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. However, Israel, which is not part of the Nuclear Non -Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and which is estimated to have 100 nuclear weapons, considers Iran’s nuclear program a threat. Trump supported Israel, saying, “We are the biggest ally in Israel,” but expressed a desire to avoid military intervention.
This war is a threat to regional stability, and global leaders are trying to stop it. Iran has requested Trump to put pressure on Israel for a ceasefire through Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
