Vice President of South Africa Paul Mashatile
Johannesburg: South African Vice President Paul Mashatile has inaugurated the first phase of the Bochaan resident Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan (BAPS) institution and the first phase of the temple. During this, Mashatila said that the principles of BAPS are similar to the national ethos of South Africa. Mashatila praised the local Hindu community, saying, “We should consider the role of a Hindu community in nation building. The cultural heritage and values of this community are rich and it has played an important role in shaping the social fabric of our diverse society. ”
‘BAPS is known for human service’
In his address as the chief guest at the occasion of the inauguration ceremony, the Vice President attempted to underline similarities between BAPS and South African ethos. Mashatila, referring to various activities of BAPS, said, “The principles of BAPS of religion, service and unity are really quite in the shared humanity and confidence in the intelligence and our national ethics are quite well with Ubuntu.” He described the project as “a symbol of faith, culture and unity” and said that BAPS is known for his commitment to human service, social uplift and cultural protection.
Mashatile invited BAPS to help
Mashatila said, “The new temple will be a sanctuary of peace, knowledge and spiritual prosperity not only for the place of worship, but also for the people of all backgrounds.” Mashatila also invited BAPS to help the government in the challenges of the country such as poverty, unemployment, violence, drug abuse and gender -based violence.
