There is a discussion about Khaleda Zia that she can become the PM of Bangladesh. So let us tell you who is Begum Khaleda Zia and if she becomes the PM of Bangladesh, then what can be her attitude towards India?

Begum Khaleda Zia was imprisoned in Dhaka jail on corruption charges when Sheikh Hasina was the PM. Begum Khaleda Zia is the head of Bangladesh Nationalist Party i.e. BNP. After Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh, the President has ordered to release Begum Khaleda Zia from jail. Sheikh Hasina’s family has had a long connection with India. So does Begum Khaleda Zia. Begum Khaleda Zia was born on 15 August 1945 in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal state of India. She was married to Pakistan’s army officer Ziaur Rahman. Ziaur Rahman was also the President of Bangladesh from 1977 to 1981. Begum Khaleda Zia founded BNP in 1978 while Ziaur Rahman was still alive.
Begum Khaleda Zia gained a lot of fame in Bangladesh. As a result, she became the PM of Bangladesh in 1991. She was the first woman to hold power in Bangladesh. Begum Khaleda Zia once again held the post of PM in Bangladesh from 2001 to 2006. When her term ended, the parliamentary elections to be held in 2007 were postponed due to violence. After this, the Bangladesh Army took over by removing Begum Khaleda Zia from power. Begum Khaleda Zia was accused of corruption. She always had political rivalry with Sheikh Hasina. Due to this, Begum Khaleda Zia had to remain behind prison bars for a long time. If Begum Khaleda Zia becomes the PM of Bangladesh, then her country’s relations with India can be tense. The reason for this is that there are fundamentalist elements in Khaleda Zia’s BNP. Also, the anti-India fundamentalist party Jamaat-e-Islami is also an ally of Begum Khaleda Zia. Begum Khaleda Zia’s BNP has many times called for boycott of products made in India. When Khaleda Zia was the PM of Bangladesh, her country’s relations with India were very bad. Whereas, Sheikh Hasina is considered a supporter of India.
