New Delhi: The whole country is disappointed over Vinesh Phogat’s disqualification in the final wrestling match at the Paris Olympics 2024. Meanwhile, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has told in Parliament how much money the government spent on Vinesh Phogat.
The government spent so much money on Vinesh
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told the Parliament that the government spent 70 lakh 45 thousand rupees on Vinesh. He said that Vinesh was also sent abroad for training. Necessary instructions have also been given to Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha.
The Sports Minister said that Vinesh Phogat’s weight was measured at 7.10 am and 7.30 am. Vinesh’s weight was found to be 100 grams more than 50 kg. Vinesh had received world-class support staff. She was also given a foreign coach. India has protested to the Olympic Association over Vinesh being declared ineligible.
What is the whole matter?
Vinesh Phogat had made it to the finals of 50 kg freestyle wrestling but she has been disqualified from the final match due to being overweight. This has come as a big shock to the sports lovers of the country. The whole country was expecting Vinesh to win the gold medal. Vinesh played her final match at 12:45 late at night but now she has been disqualified. She will not even get the silver medal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to console Vinesh by tweeting. He wrote, Vinesh, you are a champion among champions! You are the pride of India and an inspiration to every Indian. Facing challenges has always been your nature. Come back stronger! We are all praying for you.
