Vinesh Phogat has suffered a major setback in the Paris Olympics 2024. She had her final match for the gold medal on Wednesday. However, on Wednesday morning itself, Vinesh was disqualified from the Olympics due to her weight being 100 grams more. The whole country is disappointed with this incident and is in support of Vinesh. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee has raised the demand to give Bharat Ratna to Vinesh Phogat. Let us know the whole matter.
Demand for Bharat Ratna or Rajya Sabha seat
Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee tweeted on X that the government and the opposition should find a way to build a consensus and award Vinesh Phogat with Bharat Ratna. Or, acknowledging Vinesh’s extraordinary ability, she should be nominated for the Rajya Sabha seat to be nominated by the President.
Vinesh faced a huge struggle- Abhishek
Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee further wrote that Vinesh Phogat has faced a lot of struggle. Considering this, we can do at least this much for her. Abhishek Banerjee further said that no medal can fully reflect the real strength of Vinesh.
What was the whole matter?
Actually, Vinesh had reached the final of the 50 kg wrestling category and her silver medal was confirmed. Vinesh had a match on Wednesday. Vinesh Phogat’s weight was measured at 7.10 am and 7.30 am. Vinesh’s weight was found to be 100 grams more than 50 kg. Due to this, she was disqualified.
