According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, when Chiranjeevi got a marriage proposal, he refused saying that he is not of marriageable age yet. Chiranjeevi did not even want to see Surekha, but the family forcefully took him to Surekha’s house. Seeing this reaction of Chiranjeevi, his producer friend explained to his father and said that his son will start dating Surekha and this beautiful relationship will slip out of his hands. According to reports, Chiranjeevi got married on the insistence of his father. However, before marriage, both of them met several times due to which love gradually grew between them. On 20 February 1980, both of them got married in the presence of their family.
