Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh
New Delhi: Many states including Delhi may receive heavy rains today. The Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy weather and light rain with thunder in Delhi-NCR today. However, there is no alert for heavy rain in Delhi-NCR on August 8 and 9. A yellow alert has been issued for the National Capital Region including Noida from August 10 to August 12.
Heavy rain alert in these states
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours. The IMD has predicted heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir on August 10 and 11, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan till August 13, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh till August 11, Punjab on August 10 and Haryana on August 8 and 10. Heavy rains may occur in West Bengal and Sikkim today.

At the same time, light to moderate rain is also expected in Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch. Northeast regions including Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya are expected to receive heavy rainfall till August 10. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Bihar today.
Landslide warning in Himachal
Heavy rains in several parts of Himachal Pradesh triggered landslides and closed over 100 roads in the state. The weather department has issued an ‘orange alert’ for moderate to heavy rain, thundershowers and lightning at isolated places in the state on August 10. The weather department has also warned of mild to moderate flooding in isolated parts of Kangra, Sirmaur, Chamba, Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Solan and Mandi districts in the next 24 hours.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, a total of 109 roads are closed, including 37 in Mandi, 29 in Shimla, 26 in Kullu, six in Kangra, four each in Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti, two in Sirmaur and one in Hamirpur. The intensity and impact area of monsoon activity is expected to increase during the next five to six days. The Meteorological Department has also warned about the possibility of landslides and flash floods at some places.
