On August 7, in the opening round of the women’s freestyle 53 kg category, Antim Panghal faced Turkish wrestler Yenep Yetgil. In this match, Antim had to face a 10-0 defeat. After the defeat, Antim’s health deteriorated and she returned to the hotel. Antim said that due to his deteriorating health, his sister went to the sports village and tried to bring his luggage. The sister used his accreditation card, which was considered suspicious by the security personnel and taken into custody. After this, she was taken to the police station and the card was verified. Antim told that this matter was only related to verification and his sister was released soon.
Coach and cab dispute
Antim also clarified that the reports of a fight between the coach and the cab driver are also false. He said that after losing the bout, the coach stayed in the sports village and a cab was booked to reach the hotel. There were some inconveniences due to the language barrier, but it was not a fight. Antim said that his flight back to India was already booked and there is no case of his deportation from Paris. He appealed to everyone not to pay attention to the rumors being spread in this regard.

According to sources, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has decided to impose a three-year ban on Anant Panghal. The formal announcement of this decision will be made after he returns to India.
