Kolkata. There was a stir in the RG Kar Medical College of Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, on Friday after the body of a student was found. On Friday morning at around 11:30, the body of a PG second year student was found half naked in the seminar hall of the college. There are injury marks on the student’s body. At the same time, the post-mortem report has indicated that the victim was sexually abused and then murdered. The police have registered a case of murder. The police have formed a special investigation team and started investigating the case.
A police officer has given information on the case. Police told PTI, this is definitely not a case of suicide. The woman was murdered after being sexually assaulted. According to the four-page report, the woman’s private parts were bleeding and there were injury marks on other parts of the body.

The post-mortem report said, ‘She was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth, there were injury marks on her face and nails. The victim’s private parts were also bleeding. There were injury marks on her stomach, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger and lips.’ A senior Kolkata Police official said that the crime took place between 3 and 6 am.
had dinner with juniors
A fellow student of the victim, on the condition of anonymity, said, ‘She (victim) had dinner with her juniors at around 2 in the night. After this, she went to the seminar room. Since there is no separate room for resting on duty.’
Demands of students
The victim’s mother has said that when she saw her daughter, she was lying half naked. There were injury marks on her body, her glasses were broken. On the other hand, in protest against the death of a fellow student, the doctors have demanded to stop working in this hospital and on Friday the students also took out a candle light march. The students’ demand is-
- A judicial inquiry should be conducted in this matter.
- The culprit should be arrested within 48 hours.
- A fast track court should be formed to ensure severe punishment to the culprit.
- Security guards should be deployed in the hospital round the clock and CCTV cameras should be installed.
- A proper duty room should be made near the ladies washroom.
Demand for CBI investigation
At the same time, the opposition party of the state, BJP, protested fiercely in the hospital after this incident and has demanded a CBI inquiry. The state government (Trinamool Congress) said that the police is investigating, there should be no politics. The State Women’s Commission has sought a detailed report on this matter. At the same time, questions are also being raised on the security arrangements in RG Kar Hospital.
