Doctors on strike across the country today
Recently, a female trainee doctor was raped and murdered in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The police have arrested the accused of murdering the female doctor. Today, doctors across the country have called for a strike against the murder of the female doctor after the brutality. Also, the Resident Doctors Association of all government hospitals has also called for joining this strike.
Elective surgeries and lab work closed
There will be a candle march at Mumbai’s JJ Hospital today at 6 pm. OPDs will remain open in all hospitals of Mumbai. Elective surgeries and lab work will be closed during the doctors’ strike. Many government hospitals in Delhi issued an official statement on Sunday and announced the closure of OPD, operation theatre and ward duty from Monday morning. The fire of anger has spread from Kolkata to Delhi over the brutality with the female doctor. Due to this, the doctors’ association has decided to go on strike on Monday.

Doctors today announced the suspension of their non-emergency services at Delhi’s Maulana Azad Medical College, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and GTB Hospital. The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of Delhi’s Maulana Azad Medical College, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Lady Hardinge Medical College, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and GTB Hospital have announced the suspension of their non-emergency services.
A big conspiracy is being suppressed
The police have arrested the main accused in this case but the doctors are not satisfied with the police investigation. The doctors say that by arresting one accused, a big conspiracy is being suppressed. The doctors are demanding a CBI inquiry and a fast track court in the case.
BJP demanded a CBI inquiry
Meanwhile, Bengal BJP president Sukanto Majumdar has written a letter to the Union Health Minister requesting a CBI inquiry into the matter as well as sending a team of the Medical Council of India to visit all the medical colleges in Bengal.
