New Delhi. 7 devotees have died due to stampede in Siddheshwar Nath temple located in Jehanabad, Bihar, while about 15 to 20 people are reported to be injured. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed condolences on this tragic accident and announced compensation on behalf of the government. The CM said that this incident is extremely sad and painful. The government stands with every victim in this time of crisis. The family of every devotee who died in this incident will be given an immediate compensation of Rs 4 lakh. Along with this, the Chief Minister has also given instructions to make proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured. This incident happened around 12 o’clock late at night.

Actually, Shravani fair is held every year in the month of Sawan in Siddheshwar Nath temple. Today, on the fourth Monday of Sawan, a large number of devotees reached the temple to offer water to Lord Bholenath. Due to the large crowd, people were standing in line since night. Then suddenly there was a stampede. Although the reason for the stampede cannot be said clearly, but an eyewitness present in the temple said that there was an altercation between the devotees and the flower prasad shop owners over something.
After this, the workers who were looking after the arrangements on behalf of the temple administration started hitting people with sticks. Due to this, there was a stampede. People started running while trampling each other, in this, those who fell on the ground could not get up. Eyewitnesses also raised questions on the police and said that the police was present in the temple premises but the arrangements were not proper. If the police administration had made arrangements for ambulances as a precaution, then some lives could have been saved.
