Kejriwal ready to apologize in defamation case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is ready to apologize for a case, for which he asked for a few weeks’ time from the Supreme Court, after which the court listened to him and postponed the hearing for about 1.5 months. This case is about defamation by sharing a video of YouTuber Dhruv Rathi. During the hearing, Kejriwal said that he is ready to apologize but not as per the conditions of the complainant.

What was the matter?

Let us inform you that Dhruv Rathi’s video was shared by Chief Minister Kejriwal on his X account, after which BJP leader Suresh Nakhua filed a defamation case against CM Kejriwal. He alleged that Dhruv Rathi made false allegations against him and made a video which Kejriwal shared and this defamed him. This case was heard by a bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna, PV Sanjeev Kumar and R. Mahadevan. During the hearing on February 26, the court had asked the complainant if he would withdraw the case if Kejriwal apologizes?

Who said what during the hearing?

According to the Bar and Bench report, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, who appeared on behalf of Kejriwal, said, “There is a lot going on in his life, only the case of one tweet was left to be looked into.” He demanded the case to be postponed for 8 to 12 weeks and said that whatever happens in this case, he will inform the court. At the same time, advocate Raghav Awasthi, who appeared on behalf of the complainant, said that I have received a draft apology, I need 2 weeks. Long time cannot be given in this case.

On this, Singhvi said that we are going to express our grief, but not in the way they want. After listening to both the parties, the bench asked for a hearing after 6 weeks.
