New Delhi. Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has nominated Delhi’s Home and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot to hoist the tricolor at Chhatrasal Stadium on Independence Day. Earlier, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had nominated Cabinet Minister Atishi to hoist the tricolor, but the General Administration Department (GAD) had rejected Atishi’s proposal to hoist the flag, citing rules. The Union Home Ministry said that the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi can nominate any minister of Delhi to hoist the flag. After this, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has nominated Kailash Gehlot, Cabinet Minister in the Aam Aadmi Government, to hoist the tricolor.
Earlier yesterday, Delhi government minister Gopal Rai had reached Tihar Jail to meet Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. After meeting the Chief Minister, Gopal Rai had issued an order on behalf of the CM to the General Administration Department (GAD) in this regard. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also written a letter to Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena regarding this matter in which he had said that in my absence, this time Delhi government minister Atishi will hoist the flag at Chhatrasal Stadium.

On the other hand, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva targeted Kejriwal on this issue and said, it is Delhi’s misfortune that there is a government with Naxalite ideology here which creates controversy on every national festival. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier staged a dharna on 26 January. Now on 15 August, the Chief Minister should hoist the flag, but he is in jail. Some other minister will hoist the flag in his place. It is better that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal resigns. He can send a message from jail but cannot send his resignation? Resign and select a new Chief Minister so that he can hoist the flag on the national festival.
