UP News : Agencies not repairing roads dug for laying pipelines for ‘Tap Water to Every Home’ and giving wrong reporting of tap connections will be blacklisted and the contractor will be sent to jail. Along with this, suspension action will be taken against the concerned Executive Engineer. In view of the complaints coming from many districts of the state about the agencies not repairing the roads after laying the pipeline, the State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission is preparing to take major action against such contractors and agencies.
Anurag Srivastava, Principal Secretary of Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, has directed the Executive Director of State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission to take strict action against all such agencies and Executive Engineers. After which, the Executive Director of the Mission, Brijraj Singh Yadav, has written a letter to all the Executive Engineers of Jal Nigam Gramin and all the contractors of Jal Jeevan Mission in this regard and asked them to repair all the roads before Navratri and provide regular water supply to the villages with connections.
Work should be completed by October 3rd
In a letter written by the Executive Director, all the Executive Engineers and contractors have been directed to complete the repair and restoration work of the roads cut for laying the pipeline before Sharadiya Navratri i.e. 3rd October. Also, in those schemes where FHTC report has been done but actually water is not being supplied, regular supply of chlorinated water should be made from the tap immediately. Strict action will be taken against the concerned engineers and contractors who do not do so.
Complaints about roads not being repaired
Recently, during the departmental review, complaints were received from many districts that even after laying the pipeline and hydro testing, the roads have not been repaired. Due to which problems are arising. Public representatives had also complained about this. Actually, the work of repairing the roads cut for laying the pipeline is the responsibility of the concerned agency. But many agencies are continuously being negligent in this work.
If there is no water supply then action will be taken
The Executive Director of the State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission has also given instructions to take action against the agencies and officials who have done wrong reporting of tap connections. In the letter written by the Executive Director, it has been said that in the schemes where FHTC has been reported, but in reality water is not being supplied, water supply should be started there without any delay, so that maximum number of people can get the benefit of the scheme. Strict action will be taken against the engineers and agencies who do not do so.
Action may be taken against more than one and a half dozen engineers
Action can be taken against more than one and a half dozen executive engineers for not repairing roads after laying the pipeline and wrong reporting of connections. In this, 8 executive engineers of Purvanchal, 6 posted in Western Uttar Pradesh and 3 executive engineers posted in Awadh region have the most complaints. These engineers have been given an ultimatum to improve the work culture and remove all the complaints as soon as possible. If there is no improvement in their work, the department will take action of suspension against them.
