Amidst the nationwide outrage over the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College, a sensational case of attempted rape of a minor has come to light in a government hospital in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. It is said that a man tried to rape a 12-year-old girl in the toilet at midnight in Biaora Civil Hospital of Rajgarh district. Hearing the girl’s screams, people reached the spot and saved her.
Rural Beawar police station in-charge Govind Meena said that on Tuesday a 12-year-old girl came to Beawar’s civil hospital with her ailing grandmother and father. Her grandmother was admitted in the hospital. On Tuesday night at around 2 o’clock, when the minor went to the toilet, 24-year-old Suresh Verma caught her. The accused tried to rape her. After this, the terrified girl started screaming. Hearing the minor’s screams, people reached the spot and saved her.
The family members say that when the girl screamed, the accused tried to strangle her. Hearing the noise, the attendants of other patients, relatives and security guards reached the spot and the accused ran away and hid. People started searching for the accused. People found the accused and beat him up badly and handed him over to the police. The attendants say that most of the CCTV cameras in the hospital remain switched off. On the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act including molestation.
