Prayagraj, Amrit Vichar: Sri Krishna Janmashtami is being celebrated with great pomp and show across the country today, i.e. on 26 January. This time in the city’s ISKCON temple, the Lord will be adorned with clothes studded with pearls worth Rs. 4.5 lakhs brought from Vrindavan. Lord Krishna will be born in the city at midnight. All the temples have been decorated in a grand manner. Preparations are being made for the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna in Police Line, Naini Jail and all the police stations of the district. Grand and attractive tableaux have been decorated in Munshi Ram Prasad ka Bagiya Muthiganj in Prayagraj.
This time on Shri Krishna Janmashtami, water from 12 holy rivers has been brought for the Jalabhishek of Kanha in the ISKCON temple. First, the Lord will be anointed with water, then the Lord will be dressed in velvet clothes. 56 bhogs will be offered to the Lord. After that Maha Aarti will be performed.
Janmashtami is also being celebrated in the temple built in the city’s police lines. A fair has also been organized in the police line. This time the temple management has organized many cultural programs for the devotees along with special worship. On Janmashtami, the puja will be performed with full rituals by the priest who has come from Vrindavan. In-charge Jai Prakash of ISKCON temple said that this time Pandava Sena will be deployed for the security and arrangements of Radha Krishna who will wear costumes worth more than four and a half lakhs.
For this, a Pandava army of 100 people associated with ISKCON has been deployed, who will be engaged in the arrangements from inside to outside the temple on the Janmashtami festival. He informed that the celebration of Janmashtami festival had begun in ISKCON temple from 24 August and will continue till 27 August. Radha Krishna procession was taken out on 24 August. Vishwa Kalyan Jal will be celebrated on 25 August and Janmashtami will be celebrated on 26 August and on that day the Lord will be anointed with water from 21 pots of different rivers. On 27 August the 128th birthday of Srila Prabhupada, who founded ISKCON, will be celebrated as Vyas Puja.
