Every day new revelations are being made regarding the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Recently a video has surfaced which is said to be from inside RG Kar Medical College. In this video, a person named Afsar Ali Khan can be seen misbehaving with the former principal of the hospital, Manas Bandyopadhyay. In the video, Afsar Ali Khan described himself as an additional security guard and said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sent him. Although this incident is a year old, this video is being taken seriously after the turmoil of recent days.
In this video, the then principal of the medical college, Manas Bandyopadhyay, wanted to know the reason for Khan’s visit and asked for information. In response, Khan cited his political connections and said that ‘CM Didi’ had sent him. After this video went viral, there has been a stir in the politics of the state once again and this incident has raised many questions in political and administrative circles.
The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared this video on its official social media handle. They claimed that the guard seen in the video, Afsar Ali Khan, belongs to the Trinamool Congress and works for Sandip Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Hospital.
It is noteworthy that Sandeep Ghosh resigned from his post on August 9 after the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital. He is now under the purview of CBI investigation. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) suspended Ghosh’s membership on Wednesday. The disciplinary committee of the IMA has taken this decision considering the seriousness of the matter.
