KC Tyagi: Senior Janata Dal United (JDU) leader and former Rajya Sabha member KC Tyagi has resigned from the post of national spokesperson of the party. The party has given the responsibility of national spokesperson to Rajiv Ranjan in his place. KC Tyagi, who was associated with the socialist movement, is considered very close to JDU and Nitish Kumar. This can be gauged from the fact that no matter who has been the president of JDU from Sharad Yadav to Lalan Singh, KC Tyagi has always been included in the core team.
Because he had a forthright opinion on every issue
Now the question arises that why was KC Tyagi removed from the post of national spokesperson? It is also believed that commenting on every issue while sitting in Delhi also proved costly for KC Tyagi because the JDU leadership sitting in Patna could not tolerate it because he used to give his frank opinion on every issue. His statements often made it seem that the opinions of JDU and NDA are different. If sources are to be believed, BJP had asked its allies to maintain coordination to suppress the news of differences in NDA.
Lallan Singh and Sanjay Jha met him
Regarding this, former national president of the party and Union Minister Lallan Singh and Sanjay Jha had met him and asked him to resign from the post of national spokesperson. However, in the press release issued by the party, it has been said that he has resigned from the post of JDU’s national spokesperson due to personal reasons. Although KC Tyagi is also a special advisor of JDU, it is not yet clear whether he has resigned from this post or not.
Giving a statement different from the party line proved costly
According to political experts, KC Tyagi has made statements on many such issues that are against the party line. For this, he did not even discuss with the party leaders. On many such issues including foreign policy, lateral entry in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Supreme Court’s decision on SC-ST reservation, he presented his personal views as the party’s views, which damaged the party’s image.
Support for the opposition on the Israel issue
KC Tyagi echoed the views of India Block leaders on foreign policy. He signed a joint statement with the leaders of opposition parties to stop the supply of arms to Israel. It was said in this statement that the central government should stop the supply of arms and ammunition to Israel. It was said in the joint statement that this brutal attack by Israel is not only an insult to humanity but also a gross violation of international law and the principles of justice and peace.
Statement was also given on lateral entry in UPSC
KC Tyagi, a senior JDU leader, had also given a statement on the issue of lateral entry in UPSC without talking to senior party leaders. He had said, our party has been asking the government to fill the reserved seats since the beginning. We are people who believe in Ram Manohar Lohia. When people have faced backwardness in society for centuries, why are you looking for merit. This order of the government is a matter of serious concern.
Not only this, KC Tyagi gave statements different from the party line on many issues like Supreme Court’s decision on SC-ST reservation, Wakf Bill, Uniform Civil Code and Agniveer without discussing with the party. It is being told that this is why his resignation has been taken. JDU General Secretary Afaque Ahmed Khan said that now Rajiv Ranjan Prasad will take up the responsibility of the party’s national spokesperson.
Who is KC Tyagi?
