Russian Helicopter Crash
Moscow: The bodies of all 22 people killed in a helicopter crash in Russia’s Far East on Saturday have been recovered. Emergency Ministry officials gave this information on Monday. The helicopter was mainly carrying tourists. The dead include all three crew members. The accident took place in the Kamchatka region, which is an ancient peninsula and has many volcanoes. This region is famous for its beauty and rich wildlife.
The accident happened because of this
On Saturday, a Mi-8 helicopter with 19 passengers and three crew members on board took off near the Vachkazets volcano and crashed. The wreckage of the helicopter was found the next day. Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti, citing the Emergency Ministry, said the accident was probably caused by poor visibility in bad weather.
Investigation into the accident has been launched
The local branch of Russia’s top law enforcement body said in a statement on Monday that an investigation into the accident has been launched. The Mi-8 is a twin-engine helicopter developed in the 1960s. It is widely used in many other countries including Russia.
