Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 3 (IANS) CPI(M)-backed Independent MLA PV Anwar on Tuesday said let Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan decide on the allegations levelled against Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in-charge of law and order MR Ajith Kumar.
“As a comrade, I did my duty, met the chief minister and apprised him of the situation. Now let the chief minister decide the fate of the ADGP. I will also meet CPI-M state secretary M V Govindan and tell him about the corruption,” Anwar said.
Earlier, PV Anwar had compared the ADGP to a notorious criminal who has “modelled” himself on fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim.
He also alleged that the ADGP had colluded in several illegal and dubious deals.
The Nilambur MLA also said that Ajith Kumar’s wife was also involved in his transactions. He said that he has several phone recordings of police officials.
“I cannot say whether he will be removed from the post or not. I have generally said that a section of the police is not performing its duty properly. We have a communist government which knows the pulse of the people,” Anwar told media persons after meeting the chief minister.
He said that when people were expecting that the ADGP would be removed from his post, the inquiry was announced.
On Monday, Chief Minister Vijayan announced that the allegations against the police officer would be investigated.
Meanwhile, both the Congress and the BJP have accused the Kerala government of playing “hide and seek”.
Kerala Leader of Opposition (LoP) Satheeshan said, “Vijayan is scared to take any action because he knows that if he touches the cop, he will also face investigation. We demand a CBI probe into the allegations levelled against the police officers. We will also demand legal action.”
State BJP chief K. Surendran said strange things were happening in the Chief Minister’s Office.
“A senior IAS officer was in jail in connection with the gold smuggling case in his office. Now fingers are being pointed at another officer. The allegations levelled by the ruling MLA should be thoroughly investigated by central agencies,” Surendran said.
